What Is Coaching?
Coaching is a wonderfully unpredictable process which leads to fundamental change in life and business.  The power of the coaching process lies with the client, while the coach is the catalyst for change.

Benefits of Coaching

The Relationship Between Coach And Client
Do you remember the last time that anyone really listened to you?  The coaching relationship becomes strong and unique as it encourages discovery from within the client.  It differs from well-intentioned advice from friends in the following way:

  • It is non-judgmental
  • The coach has no agenda of their own
  • The coach is that essential sounding board required by all business owners
  • A good coach shows a high degree of empathy
  • It is totally confidential
  • The agenda belongs to you, the client
  • The coach is a catalyst for change in the client

What Coaching Is Not
Coaching does not delve into the past, as in counselling or psychotherapy, or teach, as in mentoring or training.

Positive Psychology
I use many of the techniques available from the science of Positive Psychology to bring out the best in the people I coach.

Positive Psychology is the scientific study of the strengths and virtues that allow individuals to thrive and benefit from an on-going feeling of well-being.  By establishing your core strengths it is possible to coach you to those strengths, rather than find ways to improve on your weaknesses.
